Computerized Tomogram is relatively new diagnostic technique, which relies on computer technology and application of wide operative and reconstructive algorithms to view areas of interest from multiple planes. (axial, coronal, sagittal, and obligue)
C-T has changed neurological, neurosurgical and radiological practice beyond recognition. This paper tries to demonstrate the diagnostic possibility and limitation of C-T in facial skeletal lesion of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Clinical application at our institution has been used C-T in preoperative evaluation of orbital blow-out fracture, multiple facial bone fracture, and congenital mid-facial anomalies respectively.
The result was summerized as follows,
1) In facial bone fracture, especially involving naso-orbital-ethmoidal complex area C-T was more useful to accurate evaluation for the nature and degree of soft and hard tissue than other classical radiologic technique.
2) C-T was exclusively valuable in preoperative diagnosis and surgical planning of congenital mid-facial anomaly because of good visualization of skeletal anomalies and soft tissue structure.
